Learn to Play Program in Need of Used Skates
by posted 01/27/2010

As we continue to grow our Learn to Play program, we are faced with a shortage of ice skates to make available to the budding players.

We would ask you to consider donating any old skates that your youngster has grown out of to our program.  If you could bring them to the rink on your next trip, we would be eternally grateful, and a new player will benefit!

Thanks for all of your support to the RGV Youth Hockey League!

Jeff Alvarado - President, RGV Youth Hockey Association

New Learn to Play Session Starting January 12, 2010
by dan ford posted 01/15/2010

This class is designed for all new hockey players, between the ages of 4 and 16, who would like to try this sport. Classes will be held on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm beginning January 12, 2010 and running through March 18, 2010.

This program is designed to teach basic skating skills, and progress players on to playing hockey. As players progress, they will be allowed to join their age group (may also be placed in an appropriate group based on development) in a practice.

Parents can then decide to pay the league fee (fee will be adjusted accordingly) for the child to play with a team. All hockey equipment needed will be provided (with a deposit) except skates**.

*Equipment will be added as player progresses. All new players will begin with a helmet, elbow pads, shin guards, and gloves. There is a $50 deposit for use of the equipment. This deposit will be refunded when equipment is returned.

**If you require help with skates please let the association know.
